So many better and appropriate choices were available (based on how they've played so far).

It's one position with quality depth, at least.
Quite true, I think we're okay there. Matthews has more moves with the ball, Murray is really good at locating and making the initial catch. Harrison, Wilson, I think we're in good shape with the smaller speed guys. Just gotta get some time and reads.

Maybe D.J. blocks better? Anyone studied tape that much??

I wouldn't put much stock in it.

I read a piece elsewhere that indicated his blocking was exactly the reason. I would think it is temp until he puts emphasis in WR blocking which clearly was an issue in the Samford game. Several plays were blown up due to the fail on WR blocking (think any # of the 3/4 WR bunch plays).

I would expect him to get the message and take back "his roster spot".

I actually like the Turnover Chain. And the Boise State Throne is awesome! UGA's Spiked Pads are pretty cool as well. Everyone else's gimmick rather sucks.

And while Murray leads in catches, he's also had several drops.

Part of the coaching up process which I suspect Nyqwan needs more often than not. He will probably end up catching several TDs vs Cuse get the start the following game and miss a few catches and blocks again.

Can't wait for the next "All is Well" article...

Pathetic start, but let’s not knee-jerk

There’s no way to sugarcoat it, Monday night was a complete and utter disaster. The lackluster performance against the Hokies is especially disappointing because it comes on the heels of a very positive offseason. Willie Taggart did a bang-up job healing a wounded fan base that was down and out following an awful 2017 season and the awkward departure of Jimbo Fisher.

------
Fans don’t want to hear it, but the reality is that this was just one game. Yup, there are plenty of major issues that need to be cleaned up (see next take), but laying an egg in an opener and bouncing back is hardly unprecedented.

Now it's just 3 games.
------
Also keep in mind that just about everything that could go wrong did. Florida State committed five turnovers, had a punt blocked for a touchdown, missed a 32-yard chip shot field goal, and came up with just three points in four red-zone trips.

------
It’s also easy to lose sight of the fact that this team is breaking in an entirely new scheme with a new coaching staff.

It's not a "new" offense, it is eerily similar to the Freeze Option that we ran in '83-'85, until it was jettisoned for Danny McManus & Chip Ferguson. But it worked better then.
------

Unfortunately, I think we do owe Taggart the benefit of the doubt and the chance to get a full season under his belt, but we should be prepared to move on quickly if season two goes like the first one. Do we have the resources to buy out his contract?

Think about how bad Taggart must feel...this guys loves FSU. It's his dream job. He's not a carpet bagger like Meyer or Fisher.
