Feels like for the last 5 - 10 years, every time a job came open Gruden's name was near the top of the list (like Farve coming out of retirement). The grass is always greener.

I feel like he should give Dick Vermiel a cut tho.

Awesome. thanks @DFSNOLE

The Lady Noles run to the National Championship is one of my favorite ( Top 10) sports moments of my life. Watched almost all of every game from ACC Tournament to that last great out. So much fun to see that team represent my beloved university
Meanwhile, the ladies futball squad put away the Cavaliers tonight 3-1 to set up a knock down drag out match vs UNC on Sunday for the ACC title. Noles are peaking...mid field is leading the charge. Go Noles!!

Which ladies futball squad are you talking about?

Our two traditionally dominant programs - football and baseball - are on the skids. It's great to see many other programs, soccer, softball, men's and women's basketball, to name a few, rising to national prominence.

Two years ago the baseball team was in the CWS. I don't think that qualifies as the skids.

This write up brings back so many memories to me. Kurt Unglaub and Jimmy Jordan helped Leon High beat my Godby Cougars during our Senior year. The Cougars went on to win the state title in the biggest classification the next year. Other former Lions on Bowden’s first year roster included Mike Shuman and Wally Woodham.
Bobby blended the talent Daryl Mudra had begun to assemble with later classes to begin FSU’s rise into elite status.
Some of Mudra’s other guys were future stars including... Willie Jones, Larry Key, Leon Bright, Aaron Carter, Jimmy Black, Jimmy Heggins, Bobby Jackson, Roger Overby, and many more.
A cursory glance suggests that Bobby had more returning talent than has Coach Willie T. had to work with...

Oh BTW, Coach Mudra received the approximate equivalent of one year’s salary in severance. $30,000. Bobby signed on to a four year contact valued at $37,500 per year. Anybody think that coaching salaries are a bit out of control these days?

People don't want to see that! We are Florida State! We have better players! Our recruiting ranking were near the top and should be well above those averages!:(

Take your blinders off people!

Agreed. I don't think we truly know the depth of how bad Jimbo left it. And it is a big change in style that takes more than 3 months of practice to over come.

And for those that want WT to bag on the specific players or call out Jimbo for the state after last season etc. clearly have never worked in management.

Unless aTm beats LSU, they’ll likely end up with the same record as last year.

$75 (million) for 7-5 has a nice ring to it.

I think LSU will beat them. Aggy has a solid rushing defense but their LBs and secondary are absolute trash.

All the slobbering people did over Aggy when they beat Kentucky was hilarious. Kentucky is a one-dimensional running team and their greatest strength was neutralized by Aggy's run defense.

Then I would say we have an overabundance of uneducated fans.

Well if you think OUR fans are overreacting, just look at UF. Stereotypical awkward drunk White Uncle Dan Mullens has them at only 3 losses and possibly going to get them a ten win season and they have at least as big of a chunk of their fans demanding he be fired.

Oh, I eye roll and am embarrassed by our fans already calling for a firing. I cheer and support the anarchy and division in Hogtown. I get joy from their issue and shame from ours. I expect better.

I have no expectations for this team. I am more than willing to give Taggart a fair shot at turning the program around (at least 2 or 3 more years). Dalvin Cook hid a lot of our problems in '15 and '16 and the team was a true train wreck last year.

Manute Nole looked halfway decent this past weekend. I'd love an upset of ND, but I just don't see it happening. Maybe they'll be too focused on Syracuse and overlook us?.........that just doesn't sound right.

I had high hopes, but am willing to accept this season and possibly next will be below average. So was the season before.

I think you are correct on how much Dalvin hid issues, not unlike how JW and crew covered coaching shortcomings in the seasons before.

I am just unhappy it is very likely the end of the bowl game run. It likely should have ended last season on Jimbo's watch last season, and now WT gets to own it. It will also put a big damper on my interest in the entire bowl season.

The OLine will need at least another year before it’s even average college team quality. You can luck into a good QB, WR or RB who can start as a freshman and solve those problems. But OLine needs a couple of years of.....ahem....”vitamins” before they are beefy enough to stand up to a college level DLine. And it’s clear that our OLine wouldn’t be fixed by coaching up our current roster, we just have unusuable people at the Tackle positions.

FSU is going to need to bring in a JUCO tackle or two plus continue to feed Jalen Goss.....”vitamins” as he came in only about an inch taller and twenty pounds heavier than Felipe Franks is currently just to get to “acceptable” next year. And we need to land Neal and a couple other high level recruits so that in two years we can hit “average”.

OLines can’t be built in a day! Even though I wish it was as simple as grabbing a bunch of Jucos. But Juco olinemen usually aren’t getting quality training programs and “vitamins” so even they usually need an extra year to develop. But maybe if we land the right one and have Goss pan out we might hit “not totally embarrassing” level next year.
