Baseball Braves 2023

The depleted bullpen scared me to death...again...but the Braves hold on for a 10-7 win to start the series.

Where has Ron Washington been??? Where did the Tuiasosopo guy come from?

Braves are going with Smith-Shawver today. Hopefully the light clicks on.

Braves games are so much more fun when they bring the lumber early and often, aren't they?

Will be a interesting couple of days leading up the trade deadline.

Looks like they’re trying to add a starter and a bullpen arm.

From mlb:

Lopez, 28, was batting .210 with three triples and 13 RBIs in 67 games for the Royals this season. In five seasons, all in Kansas City, he is a career .248 hitter with five home runs and 119 RBIs with 15 triples and 40 steals.

Lopez is considered an above-average fielder at second base and shortstop.

Hearn, 28, had just one outing with the Braves after his contract was purchased from the Texas Rangers on Monday. He has a 14.73 ERA in five outings with the Braves and Rangers this season. In 93 appearances (25 starts) over five big league seasons, mostly with Texas, Hearn is 12-15 with a 5.26 ERA.

Why not just call up Vaughn Grissom?

Braves fans, the sky isn't falling. This team just took 5 of 6 from 1st place Milwaukee. All teams have a rough patch or two to get through; the Braves are no exception. Almost all the teams they've played since the break have winning records and are competitive in their divisions.

Now, if they start playing poorly against the Pirates and Cardinals of the world, I'll be little more nervous, but Atlanta, as much as anyone in baseball, knows what can happen to a double digit lead. See: Mets, last year.

The sky's not falling, perhaps...but having been stuck in the mud before, I'm familiar with that feeling.

The Braves acquire lefty Brad Hand from the Rockies for the pen. Here's a hand for AA:

Because he can't play shortstop

He also needs to play everyday, not have his development stunted by getting two AB's a month

Wouldn't shock me if he's the postseason roster as a bench bat/backup infielder

All is mysteriously quiet as the deadline looms in a few minutes. There are still a handful of quality starters on the block...Wonder if AA will pull the trigger at the last moment.

UPDATE: If so, it won't be Jack Flaherty... He's headed to Baltimore.

The biggest moves the Braves will make is adding Fried and Wright to their starting rotation.

Olson may have just received the quickest intentional walk in history. He was barely out of the on deck circle. 🤣

If I did the math right (a distinct possibly I didn't) the Braves are averaging 5.7 runs per game. That's a number that justifies their record and the season they're having. I just want them to keep that momentum going the rest of the season and carry it into the playoffs. This could go down as the best season they ever had in Atlanta.

WOW!!!!!!!!

Kyle Hendricks set down the first nine Braves in order, but now Atlanta's just exploded with 7 runs in the fourth (with six extra-base hits, including two homers!). 💪💪💪💪💪💪

The winds
This is what the Braves do; most of their wins, they simply bludgeon the other team to death.

And Baby Face has pitched like his early years.
The wind's blowing in today, but when you're hitting it 430 feet, it doesn't matter.
