What a night last night! We saw Playoff Charlie dominate, a 3 game sweep of the yanks, and reduced the magic number to 30. It was a good night.
Reminds me of Brett Butler back in the day.
More like Ralph "Beep Beep" Garr. I remember how he literally was almost throwing his bat the ball and running before contact was made.Reminds me of Brett Butler back in the day.
I had no idea that he wasn't still with the Braves.Watching Luke Jackson pitch for SF ... reminds me how pleased I am that he is no longer pitching for the Braves.
I think he could be responsible for my ulcer.Watching Luke Jackson pitch for SF ... reminds me how pleased I am that he is no longer pitching for the Braves.
He's definitely hit his stride 😏...BUT I'm not sure if he's going to continue to be a dominant starter long-term with basically just two pitches. I think he's more classically suited to be a HOF-caliber closer. However if Strider can develop his changeup to the point where it becomes a regularly reliable pitch, perhaps I'll no longer be skeptical. If Strider can avoid serious injury over the years, he's got HOF and other honors ahead of him.
What a massive win! This game felt like a loss all night until Eddie slugged his two-run two out homer in the 8th to give the Braves their first lead of the evening.Unbelievable!
I could have done that! 😡Yates with a miserable outing in the ninth ... 2 walks, 2 hit batters ... sf goes up by one without a hit.
You gunna give me some Ayahuasca to help me relax??Especially you, Liz....
Absofreakinglutely! You gunna give me some Ayahuasca to help me relax??
Garr and Butler…. WOW, what names from the past. While we had some lean years, we had some characters including the team owner. Great to reminisceMore like Ralph "Beep Beep" Garr. I remember how he literally was almost throwing his bat the ball and running before contact was made.
The fortress was breached tonight by the lowly mets. If the Braves want to guarantee home field throughout the postseason, they better start marching the intensity of the dodgers and orioles. From the AJC:
They've turned Truist Park into a fortress.
They still have the best record in baseball and have the third best record for the month of August. It's a 162 game season. You're not winning them all.The fortress was breached tonight by the lowly mets. If the Braves want to guarantee home field throughout the postseason, they better start marching the intensity of the dodgers and orioles.
One more with the stinkin' mets tonight, then off for a major West Coast trek.
That's a really cool story. Thanks for sharing it!Since Ralph Garr has been mentioned..here’s a story.
My Dad took me to my first Braves game in July of 72. Rick Reed on the bump for Atlanta vs Juan Marichal and the Giants.
Weather became a problem and the Umps stopped play. My Dad and I were at the Right Field rail and as the Road Runner was leaving the field, he struck up a conversation with us. Made a huge impression on me.
Fast forward 40 years or so. I discovered an article on Garr and somehow was able to dig up his address. Sent him a note on my letterhead to thank him for a kind gesture toward me when I was a wild eyed youngster. Mailed it and thought nothing more about it.
Two weeks later my office phone rang. It was Ralph. We had a great conversation. A baseball memory came full circle.
Bowman is a legit source so I would assume it is.Is that legit?
