No. 12 Florida State Women’s Basketball will honor the Seminole Tribe on Sunday with its Seminole Heritage game vs. South Alabama at 2 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Fans are encouraged to wear turquoise to the Tuck, which symbolizes harmony, friendship and fellowship in Native American culture.

Sunday’s game is the sixth Seminole Heritage game so far in the 2023-24 athletic year. The other teams that have hosted a contest dedicated to the Seminole Tribe include soccer, indoor volleyball, football, swimming and diving and men’s basketball.

The Seminoles (3-0) and Jaguars (3-0) face for the 10th time in series history and the first time since March 17, 2004, in a WNIT matchup in Mobile, Ala. FSU leads the all-time series 6-3.

Sophomore guard Ta’Niya Latson is coming off an incredible performance in FSU’s 79-75 comeback win at Florida. Latson scored a career-high 35 points, which included 17 fourth-quarter points. In the fourth quarter, she shot 5-of-5 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the free throw line.

Against Florida, FSU out-scored the Gators 30-19 in the fourth quarter. Latson nearly outscored UF by herself with 17 points in the fourth quarter.

Florida State enters Sunday’s non-conference matchup boasting one of the best early-season resumes in the country. FSU owns back-to-back wins over SEC schools Tennessee (92-91) and Florida (79-75). FSU has another SEC opponent at the end of November, hosting Arkansas on Thursday, Nov. 30, in the ACC/SEC Challenge on ESPN2.

The Seminoles have won eight consecutive games at home against non-conference opponents, a streak that began with a 113-50 win over Bethune-Cookman in FSU’s season opener on Nov 7, 2022. Five Seminoles enter Sunday’s game averaging double figures in scoring, including Ta’Niya Latson (27.5), O’Mariah Gordon (17.7), Makayla Timpson (13.7), Alexis Tucker (11.3) and Amaya Bonner (11.3).

FSU has been strong from 3-point range this season, shooting 40.6 percent (28-of-69). FSU is scoring 31.1 percent of its points so far from beyond the arc.

The Seminoles spend their Thanksgiving week in Las Vegas as they play in the Ball Dawgs Classic held at The Dollar Loan Center. FSU faces Northwestern in its first game at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT on Wednesday, Nov. 22, in a game that can be streamed on FloHoops.

The winner of Wednesday’s game will face the winner of No. 6 Stanford and Belmont on Friday, Nov. 24, at 11:45 p.m. ET/8:45 p.m. PT. The consolation game would take place on Friday at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT.

Outside of Timpson, seems like the rest of the team left their energy/offense in Gainesville.
