The Official 2018 World Cup Thread...

They remind me of a certain Dagny Brynjarsdottir. Dangerous, tall, and strong.
She's far better-looking though.

So far nearly every team I've rooted for has either lost or had a draw they should have won.

He seems to do that more on the national team. If you ever watch him with Barcelona he is all over the place on offense, setting things up, dribbling past many guys, taking great shots. This Argentina coach is terrible and has changed the formations and line ups for every game. It is one of the reasons that they barely qualified for the WC.
Interesting, I'll perhaps have to watch some club soccer one of these days.

Post-WC I always tell myself I'll get into it but then football (americano) starts and I forget.

Viva Peru. But Guerrero is not starting. That’s really strange.
Sorry, Fiji. Too many missed chances...
I think the announcer said that Peru is the shortest team and Denmark is the tallest of all entrants.

Anyone catch Landon Donovan backing Mexico, and the former and current USMNT players ripping him a new one? I'm kind of glad Jurgen left him off the 2014 roster now (although he would've scored the goal Wondo shanked...).

He'd become a cancer to our team with his ego, and the shot he took at Bocanegro was uncalled for. I hope he enjoys his pouting in the Mexican League, which no American follows, into his future of irrelevance.

My losing streak continues with Costa Rica losing to Serbia. So much for the pura vida.

Penciling in Germany over Mexico.. Brazil should finally end my skid this afternoon.

Impressed with Mexico's style so far... let a few good opportunities slip by but finally converted one.

Germany spent most of the second half but no clean plays. Lots of pinballing around.

So hypothetically, say Germany were to get knocked out or fail to qualify for whatever reason. Would Germans root for Brazil or Argentina to win it all over say Belgium or Portugal?

My assumption is that there would be some continental pride that would reluctantly push them to begrudgingly root for a European team.

I see it like I do college teams. I am never rooting for ScUM or FU. Never. I may be ok with Canada or some other CONCACAF team, but I’m never cheering for México.

The Germans have had an affinity for Brazil and Argentina in the past....just sayin'

Brazil up 1-0 at the half. The Swiss were mugging Neymar.

Defenatly a push off on the Swiss header goal.

Germany played like they were content with their win 4 years ago. If Sweden beats Korea tomorrow morning, they could eliminate Germany next Saturday.

Bad no call for Brazil in the box, Swiss player held once again.

Yep- you have to score more points than the other team to win. So many chances
