Announcers said during this morning's match that FIFA has told the refs not to call offsides unless they're absolutely sure...So if it was close, they may have given CR a benefit of a doubt.

Ok, I had the volume down, but it looked like he was ten yards behind the last defender as the ball was played into the box. I thought they were reviewing all goals so I'm certain I'm wrong....

Was initially in offside position. Once the #10 (sorry, blanking on the name, going with position) obtained position and Ronaldo came back behind the defense, he established his onside positioning.

Correct as to the last part. You cannot retreat from offside position to obtain possession in an onside position.
