What I Don’t Get About Vaccine

Where is there a freedom listed to attend concerts and other events in cities without a mask? Speedy trial is waived or passed consistently in criminal trial. Where in the constitution say that you have the freedom to appear in court with no mask on? I honestly just skimmed the Constitution recently but didn't see those listed. As a Constitutional originalist like Clarence Thomas I believe since the Constitution is silent on such matters it is not a freedom afforded to the American public.
It doesn't say you have to do these things with a mask either. Point being the constitution is silent on many things but that doesn't mean it can or even should be done. On the flip side people have the right to choose. If you dont want to wear a mask don t go or move to Florida.

Okay so we agree there is no freedom to not wear a mask.

Do you seriously expect the Constitution to specify detailed lists all the do’s and don’ts for access to public and private spaces?
No your missing the point. I was responding to Pops about it not listing not wearing a mask as a specific freedom.

You have the freedom to do as you want same as everyone. You also have the freedom to pay the consequences of your actions. If you don't want to wear a mask to court or a concert your free not to go. Your also free to do many things not listed in the constitution. There are also many things you can t do that are not specifically listed in it either. Not sure where this whole argument that its a constitutional right to do as you wish or not do what your told. I choose not to wear a mask, if I go somewhere that requires it I dont go. That's about as free as it gets.

Here is the thing. You have no right to go to a concert or watch a basketball game. The people putting on the concert or basketball game have the right to tell you what you can and cannot do if you wish to attend their event. If it is required to wear a mask you have the right to not attend if you do not want to comply with that requirement.

Re concerts, weddings of loved ones and other events, I was referring to the vaccine.
Speedy trial may be waived, but govt has consistently used covid as an excuse to push off trials where the defendant hasn’t waived his right.
You have a right to confront your accuser, effective assistance of counsel, due process, impartial jury, etc. Very difficult to read a witness’s facial expressions and cues with a mask on. That affects everything from how hard counsel may push on cross examination, to the jury’s ability to pick up on nervous ticks, smiles, etc. Its importance cannot be overstated.
Snide comment about Justice Thomas is unwarranted. Let’s not go down that road.

So after you have been lied to and told take your 1 , 2 , 3 shot that you would not get covid and
after your Done watching CNN, MSNBC, et all and Lord Fauci and worked into a frenzy about the Omni
and wonder where to turn since now you HAVE the OMNI after you followed all their advice

Or your local Dr like mine actually 3 Dr "get the shot you will be fine" LOL

and want answers other the Stay home and then go to the Hospital for a tube to be shoved down your throat

No constitutional issue with private companies requiring it. Problem is with government mandating those companies to require masks. The mandate is by the government in that case, not the private entity.

It’s funny to me how it’s always the folks who toss around the “sheeple” and “snowflakes” type of pleasantries who are so quick to get their panties in a wad about insults.
Enjoy your evening.

Agreed. The f your feeling folks seem to get their feelings hurt the quickest.

Your on the wrong side, time will tell. Believe whatever validates your decisions and your cult group think. It's disgusting the steps done to suppress civil liberties. I really don't care about arguing what's in the constitution. You know what's right and wrong just like I do. I know that covid caused the greatest wealth transfer ever, it took away God given rights, made big pharma a shit load of money, millions loosing their jobs, many of them suffering or suffered from mental health from loosing work or from loneliness, and some people got sick and even fewer died.
This is off the wall. Covid caused the biggest wealth transfer ever? Where is the evidence of this? I would say that the depression and maybe even the great recession caused more of a redistribution of wealth. Probably the biggest wealth transfer was caused by the tax cuts on wealthy Americans that more or less started in the 80s and continued until the last decade. I guarantee that shifted the wealth in this country exponentially more than Covid did. In regards for the government to be able to mandate vaccines whether you like it or not that is a constitutional issue. The consensus among constitutional experts is that it is allowed for based on precedence. However the current court does not care about precedent as much as previous courts. Civil liberties are defined as only being subject to laws that are for the good of the community. If government mandated vaccines for the good of the overall community by definition that would not infringe on your civil liberties.

Don’t think there’s a constitutional issue with masks. They’re silly. But if people want to require them we’re stuck. It’s up to us to vote for folks who won’t mandate them and patronize businesses that don’t require them.

Questions regarding your stance that masks are silly:

Is your dismissive attitude about masks limited to non-medical staff wearing them?

To you, would the type of mask change your attitude (for example properly fitted N95 rather than todays any old cloth mask, bandana, gaiter, etc)?

If there is a Covid strain after Omicron (let’s all cross our well-washed fingers there isn’t), and if it’s more severe/damaging (as previous strains were), would you be more receptive to masks, as part of the full package of masks, hygiene, social distancing, vaccination?

Is it more of an all or nothing type thing for you with masks… ie if they don’t FULLY protect us all, why wear them?

Is there some number of credible, peer reviewed scientific studies supporting the benefits of mask wearing that would change your opinion, or you don’t care about that since not every study agrees on the level of efficacy?

Fauci was right early on. They don’t stop the spread of this stuff.

Studies in labs are a waste of time. They don’t remotely mirror RL.

They are nothing more than virtue signaling devices. If we actually cared about their efficacy, they’d teach and enforce proper use. They never have. People use the same masks for days, weeks, or months even. They touch everything in the world and then their masks and then toss them on a table. And we don’t even push hand washing, which is much more important. That shows they know they don’t work.

The whole cloth mask thing has always been stupid. The CDC is finally admitting that. This shows the lack of trustworthiness. Like I said they’re a very visible form of virtue signaling and division.

The indiscriminate use destroys credibility. Kids have always been the least at risk for all strains. Yet we’ve fubared a micro generation socially, psychologically, and emotionally by forcing useless mask wearing on kids. Facial cues are not trivial. Masks depersonalize. I can tell you after just 5 weeks in hospitals and rehab, having all the folks around me wear masks has depressed the Hell out of me.

We know from real life data they don’t work. When the virus spikes, it spikes. Doesn’t care if it’s an area with little mask use or an area with universal use. My kids have bought into the paranoia. My girls are in NYC. We were heading up the week after my accident (obviously didn’t make it). The girls said we’d need masks everywhere. Everywhere. We almost didn’t go just for that reason. Yet NY has been eaten up with the virus. Masks made no difference other than to virtue signal to others.

I’m not just arguing. I believe this 100%. I’m compromised. Big time. But I’ve told all staff and the admin here that I’d prefer they all come in my room with no face diaper. They can’t due to rules. Not worth their jobs. But a lot of them would be happy to toss them if they could.

Here's the thing. You cant really have a study that shows how well masks work when there are so many variables involved. There is no way to know if someone that doesn't wear a mask would have got the virus anyway. Conversely you cant say because someone wears a mask sometimes they didn't get sick. There is really no way to know unless you could have every single person wear a proper fitting mask 100% of the time. The virus is to erratic to be able to tell if the masks work or not.

I look at it like this. If I'm looking at high level people like politicians, medical experts ect... and they are discussing the effectiveness of masks I would expect them to wear a mask all the time. However, throughout the entire pandemic we have seen numerous folks from Fauci to Pelosi in different settings with no mask even during surges. The best part to me is seeing folks enter a restaurant with a mask on then remove it when seated. I guess they cant get the virus when eating.

If masks were that effective there would be campaigns like those for the shot educating people about proper wear, fit and cleaning on TV and radio. A larger push from the government if you will.

I don't think they work so I don't wear them unless forced to. But I don't disparage others from wearing them. If you think your protected then that's important too.

Actually the real life data has supported the use of masks at least observationally. Mask are intended to mitigate not eliminate the risk. Mitigate in this case means to decrease the risk. It is not a fail safe and never was intended to be one.

Not enough mitigation to make it worth it. Not nearly. Masks are not neutral policy.

You can make observational studies. You can look at a subset that wears masks versus one that does not and draw observational conclusions. These type studies have been done and they support premise that there is a benefit to mask use.

So lets observe Sweden and Austria two countries with vastly different approaches to mitigation. Austria has universal masking, lockdowns and other mandates. Sweden not so much. Sweden has 134k cases per 1M population. Austria has 144k. Sweden has 1500 deaths per 1m, Austria has nearly the same.

Does that tell me masks dont work? Vaccines? Lockdowns? No not really as there are way too many variables involved. Its interesting though.

Not sure about the biggest wealth transfer per se but anyone with common sense can see that all the lock downs crushed mom&pop and small business while Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon etc etc were allowed to remain open and big Pharma is making billions off of the tax payers

It's tough to even have real mask studies when very few people are actually wearing them much less wearing them correctly. I rarely wear my mask at all at this point unless I'm requested to do so.

realistically, anybody under 50 that is relatively healthy has a generally low risk of death if they contract covid, certainly anybody under 30 has minimal risk - 0.0% at a single decimal point measurement.

the median age of covid deaths in the UK is 83, mean is 80.3. the UK's death rate for those 50+ is approximately 1% higher than the US based on current data (approx. 95% vs 94% of all deaths occurred in people 50+). I'd tell you what the US median and mean age is but i would have to do the math because that isn't widely reported for some odd reason.

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

Literally everything you just wrote is wrong.
No...it's all true. Fauci has changed his mind on masks, treatments and vaccinations many times since March 2020. Biden has actually said that if the 27% of unvaccinated people would just get vaccinated, it would end the Corona Virus. So, what part isn't true? But I can see that you're going to believe what you want to, and so am I...

So..GO NOLES.

You know there are actual studies about masks out there. Sweden might compare favorably to Austria but does not compare favorably to other more restrictive European Countries. Not sure if you can garner any useful information by making the comparison.

You will have to explain what the above means. Not enough mitigation to make it worse? Not sure what that sentence means.
If some universal mask use slows spread 15% (high estimate) it’s not worth it and all the downsides. I need to re read my post. I meant not enough mitigation to make it worth it. Not worse.

Not sure there are any more restrictive other than maybe Netherlands. I was recently in Germany, Austria and Sweden. Austria was more restrictive than Germany as far as lockdowns, masking and freedom of movement. Sweden was like Florida more or less.

But I agree its not very useful because you really dont know where the virus is spreading unless its a very controlled setting.
