What I Don’t Get About Vaccine

No I prefer you wouldn't make other people have to make a choice too feed their families or to loose their freedoms. Those 4 people are actually free. Your a government stuge.
You realize there is no right to “freedom”? People have specific freedoms afforded to them. There is no freedom to do whatever you want with no consequences.

So you are cool with making employers hire unqualified people? You are cool with mandating a certain level of retirement programs? You are cool with unions and their placing conditions on an employer's ability to hire and fire? You are cool with mandating certain time off that employers give employees? I just want to understand what my rights as an employer are.
Actually I'm just not cool with you firing somebody for not sticking something in their veins so you can line your pockets with government subsidies

I was actually highlighting the different messages that come from government agencies that should be in lock step. I'm very skeptical of anything a government wants to force on a society but cant even figure out the correct messaging it wants to get out there. See this shot doesn't prevent infection so by getting it you are hoping it prevents serious illness or hospitalization. Effectively you are still rolling the dice as you say. We can look at the data and say there have been no long term effects or that less (vaccinated) people are being hospitalized but that also could be the natural course of this virus. We don't know yet so its all rolling the dice. I've had the shot, all three to be exact but I'm still skeptical and definitely not promoting the shot.

Ah, got it. So neither you or anyone in your family uses the police, fire, highways, roads, hospitals, social security, medicare, medicaid, protection from foreign invasion, the post office, air transportation, etc.? Just want to make sure that we are all on the same level playing field here.

Ya but I don't and will not take government money, I work for my self. I couldn't sleep at night if I did what you did. Your pathetic.

Apparently, some WC members have mistakenly been led to believe that Omicron and Covid-19 are totally synonymous things, and that Omicron is totally inclusive of the entire Covid-19 family, from Day 0 to now and forever after, rather than Omicron is merely one strain of Covid-19.
This is correct. Omicron is a subset of Covid-19 much like a penny is a subset of U.S. currency.....there are lots and lots of pennies out there, but they really don't amount to much.

Ditto for Omicron, except that lots of people are straining to overstate its significance as a health threat.

Not worth your time. He’s baiting you with terms like “”Nazi” and “subsidies”. Best to ignore.

Glad we are having a civilized discussion. But I work for myself and slept wonderfully last night knowing my co-workers are as protected as they can be and that we are keeping our dying, immunocompromised clients as safe as we can. But you be you.

You'll be happy to learn that none of the Covid-19 vaccines are injected into people's veins. Deltoid muscle is where they're designed to be injected... a few other types of vaccines are administered elsewhere, but never heard of one being shot into anybody's veins (@Dhersh, you know the science better... any vaccines that require getting stuck in a vein?)

nothing mainstream that i know of. i have read about certain people that are genetically predisposed and highly likely to be susceptible to certain cancers that have received personalized vaccines intravenously.

i recall they toyed with the idea of doing an IV vaccine for TB too so that they could get it into people's bloodstream more quickly.

We used to get the "peanut butter" shot in the butt cheek right before sitting for 10+ hours on a plane. Not a very comfortable flight but at least everyone was leaning the same way. So to speak.

I think the point is that the initial message was that it prevented covid. Now the message is that it prevents serious illness and hospitalization. Is something that prevents illness and hospitalization a vaccine or a treatment/therapeutic? Your correct in that the shot doesn't prevent you from getting covid. That part is the one certainty in all of this.
From the very beginning of the vaccination program the experts said variants could impact the way the vaccines work and even if they work at all. In fact most informed people knew this already. The flu vaccine is variant specific every year. The bad news is that Omicron can evade to some degree the current vaccine. The good news is that it still seems to protect against serious disease. Only someone with a preconceived agenda against the vaccines would find this as supporting their antivax mindset.

Yikes, had never heard of the “peanut butter” shot so just looked it up. Looks and sounds pretty awful. Now I appreciate your service even more… thanks man.

Not antivax at all. I've had all three shots. Anti mandate? Sure. Do I think the shots work? Lets talk about it in a few years. Could the messaging from the media and the government have been better? Absolutely.

Since the US Navy required vaccinations for all personnel....it's very ironic that every vaccinated sailor on one ship (over one hundred soldiers) became ill and were all diagnosed with Covid. The ship is still at sea and under quarantine protocols.

Now the vaccine may help in making the symptoms milder; but the vaccines DO NOT....I REPEAT DO NOT stop people from getting Covid.
Right, they don't stop infections, just make it less likely.

Anthrax was another fun one. A series of 5 shots that were all equally unpleasant. I reacall a few people opting out of those and getting discharged.

On this we agree.
Agree, especially in hindsight, that messaging could have been better from leadership, going back to the very first mitigation recommendations and there forward… but I cut the CDC some slack considering the context at the time… Novel coronavirus kicking the world’s butt, and executive branch and others with loud bullhorns at odds with public health experts (to the point of publicly dismissing or mocking the best known science at that time)
Pretty big ask to develop and consistently deliver cohesive effective messaging in that environment.

No, the deltoid muscle is typically where shots are given. That is pretty standard.

In regards to the messaging as it relates to what I posted, everyone in authority made it clear that what is going on today was a possibility if not a likelihood. From the very beginning it was communicated that variants were likely and they could limit the viability of the vaccine. If people did not get that message it is their fault. I am not in any way a scientist or involved in the medical field but I did not even have to be told this. Complaining about it now is unjustified and agenda driven.

You absolutely have a right to determine your own therapeutics. You can decline life saving treatment. So they sure can’t tell people to take a marginally effective pre-therapeutic.

We’re at the end of CoVid. Why aren’t people happy rather than panicking abs taking away liberties?

Edited: Its not worth the argument.

No one has had a freedom removed.

Also it’s not a therapeutic. It is administered before infection and can’t be given during infection.

It’s taken before to lessen effects. Trusts a therapeutic. Doesn’t matter when you take it. Can’t ignore there’s an association between vaccines and severity of cases. That’s just different than whether it meaningfully arrests the transmission of the virus.

So by your own personal requirement that nothing is a vaccine unless it stops any and all chance of infection, is the flu vaccine also not a vaccine even though it’s been referred to as a vaccine in the medical community for many decades?
If it allows a person to get the flu after being given a flu shot, it's not a vaccine.

Just curious regarding your super definitive closing line… when you say “…DO NOT stop people from getting Covid” (which isn’t a requirement for vaccination to still be highly beneficial), do you mean not a single person who gets vaccinated or just not everybody who gets vaccinated, and by Covid are you including all past, current and future strains of Covid-19 or just Omicron?
It means exactly what the line said. Doctor (Questionable) Fauci, and Let's Go Brandon have billed the Vaccination, the second booster and now the variant shots as the end all to the Covid virus and new vaccines for it's Omicron strains. I didn't make the press releases of how these vaccines are going to wipe out the problem.

I didn't go on National television and blame the 27% of the US population that are unvaccinated as being responsible for spreading the virus. I simply mean that having the so called vaccine, doesn't stop a person from getting or giving the virus. In simpler terms you can understand, if cloth masks can stop the virus, then you're pants should be able to stop your farts from smelling.

Literally everything you just wrote is wrong.

As another poster previously noted, you’ll hear whatever you want to hear.
And I know this sounds crazy, but I’m going to continue putting significantly more weight on the input of actual well-educated, trained, experienced epidemiology professionals than on resentful message board venters, but thanks so much for your wise insights.

Businesses with 100+ employees? Employees of businesses with 100+ employees? Folks in NYC who want to go to dinner? No one has had a freedom removed... People missed their loved one's funerals over the last 21 months because state governments would not allow a small group of people to gather. People were prevented from attending church, and even when the doors were allowed to open, attendees were subjected to government mask requirements. If you're not vaccinated, you're not free to attend weddings, concerts, or other events in certain cities. Other rights affected: Right to a speedy trial? Not during covid. Right to confront your accuser? At least some courts believe a witness can be sufficiently examined on zoom, or while wearing a mask. There's a lot the jury can't discern in either scenario.

Its almost as if there is a large portion of the population that doesn't want this to go away. NYT just had an article about Flurona. Yep its having the flu and the rona at the same time. Cant make this stuff up.

Where is there a freedom listed to attend concerts and other events in cities without a mask? Speedy trial is waived or passed consistently in criminal trial. Where in the constitution say that you have the freedom to appear in court with no mask on? I honestly just skimmed the Constitution recently but didn't see those listed. As a Constitutional originalist like Clarence Thomas I believe since the Constitution is silent on such matters it is not a freedom afforded to the American public.
