If we beat Wake

Let's say we beat Wake and look pretty good in doing it. What does this whole thing look like with some more distance?
We almost beat ND. It was seen as a sign of progress. Because we played hard and stood up to a much better opponent.
We lost to Jax St. Because our staff took a calculated risk in using the game to learn about and improve themselves and to enchance their chances down the road (esp. Wake). That was a miscalculation that normally they would not have paid so dearly for. Except they rolled snake eyes and it bit them. So we freaked out. But was it really the case that we are such a bad team that we couldn't beat an FCS opponent at home? Unlikely since we took ND into overtime but let's see the season play out.
So if we beat Wake, what does the big picture look like? You could argue that it is pretty much what we expected and hoped for (except for a psyche-shattering loss based on toying with an inferior opponent and then not being able to pull it out anyway like normally happens).

We're 1-2 like we hoped we wouldn't be but figured that would be because (a) we weren't good enough to hang with ND and (b) also weren't good enough to beat a decent Wake team. Instead we did beat that Wake team (again this is hypothetical...I don't know what will happen), did hang with ND into OT, and just lost on a fluke to a team we were experimenting with. Arguably that's better than the 1-2 scenario we would have expected. The only real damage was to our fanbase's emotional health. If we go on to beat Louisville then we could start to look at it as we are 2-0 in conference, looked generally improved over last year, hung with, fought hard and almost upset ND and, oh yeah, made a huge blunder in a freaky loss to a team we beat 19 times out of 20.

It's a long season and this rebuild is an even longer story that must unfold. Perhaps we'll laugh at ourselves in a few years.
That's the optimist's view.
Unless we lose to Wake. <gulp>

It FSU’s recruiting classes and facilities were ranked SO much higher than Wake, Jax State, and so many opponents over the last several years….WHY???

Better training facilities? NO
Better housing accommodations? NO
Better health environment? NO
Better physical conditioning programs ? NO
Better technology? NO
SO, then…WHEN…
WHO was recruited arrived at …
WHERE they were to LEARN and PERFORM,
WHAT caused such UNDERPERFORMANCE?
Cut to the logical quick…it leaves only this simple answer:
EITHER….
Those who were responsible to hire
those who were expected to coach…
FAILED….
and/or
Those who coached…
those talented recruits…
FAILED….
to evaluate (unlikely) or
“Coach-up” (most likely).
This “hypothesis” is UNDENIABLE TRUTH!!!

Should be a quiet day on the TC :)

Since all week our fans have:

Never going to beat WF

Never watching FSU football again

Said how much we suck

the WRs suck

the DBs suck

the Oline sucks

the coaches ALL suck

Fire the DC

Fire the OC

Heck fire everyone

really no need to post anything about the game since it has all been said and FSU should just give up football

BUT for me

Go Noles! beat Wake!

Watching Game Day

Is depressing. We are nowhere close to having the excitement that is on the PSU campus right now.

I feel so bad for our students that one of the major aspects of life at FSU is nonexistent. Our football team simply sucks. That’s bad for student life and the city of Tallahassee.

Part of me doesn’t even want to watch today. And if we somehow pull a freaking upset of Wake Forrest (can’t believe I said that) I’m not hopeful for a win over Louisville. We are simply horrible.

I’m sure the sunshine boys of WC will tell me how wrong I and blah blah blah. But geez we are so irrelevant it’s not funny. And a loss today….wow….we may not have a winning season until 2030.

“BUY EXPERIENCE… it is the seed that produces talent,” Sonny Werblin.

And the RIGHT EXPERIENCE produces the right talent that then produces the big bucks in perpetuity for as long as the cycle is repeated and uninterrupted.
Best example: Alabama/Saban
Point: if Stoops could have been “bought” in a STRUCTURED PAYOUT for $50 to $100mm MORE than he wanted, would FSU be in need of cash today?
And who would have been joining Texas and Oklahoma into the financial promised land a/k/a “the SEC” today? and tell me, wouldn’t that $50 to $100 million STRUCTURED be “chump change” all to soon?
NOW, it is time to be transparent and bite the bullet. Though remote even IF GIVEN TIME, that CMN brings FSU back, (and it is likely best under the circumstances), we MUST AT ALL LEVELS, BACK AND HELP($$$) THIS OTHERWISE TALENTED YOUNG COACH!

Of course we have the resources, if necessary, to terminate this staff ....

I hope it doesn't come to that and somehow this staff turns this program around. That being said, the disastrous economic impact of a 2- 3 win season to the University, Tallahassee and area businesses far exceeds MN's 3.5 million dollar annual salary if we had to eat it for another 3 years (in addition to other coaches). If we lose the recruiting class in 2022, that solidifies a similar fate for the 2022 season.

This was the same analysis that the administration made when WT was fired. Not really a difficult decision. Embarrassing if it happens again, but economically not as difficult as people think. We need to get this right....eventually. Hopefully, somehow this staff can turn it around and field a respectable product on the field and hold on to the 2022 class.

SECN v. ACCN

Early Saturday AM. Some good games going on today.

The SECN is already previewing the games in its conference. Analyses, player interviews, reporters at the venues, etc. The production seems pretty slick and professional with Dari Nowkhah, Gene Chizik and Chris Doering providing substantive commentary.

Flip over to ACCN: they are playing a women's basketball rerun.

LOL. I get it. The SEC has a football product that warrants coverage and that people want to watch. The ACC does not. Yet here we are, locked into this trash conference until 2036. Any questions???

Wake bits

Quick Q&A (remember this is his opinions)
1. Is the team still climbing?
Team doing probably about as good as it could be. Everyone seems like they are still bought in. (Thx for asking, today was crappy so thanks a lot! 😀). This weekend will show us a lot about our guys and their attitude, but practice and meetings have been good for the most oart(This was sent to me last night)
2. Is Travis still engaged? Head still right? He still loves FSU and the guys but I just think he felt like he was put in a impossible situation. From his perspective , everyone wanted to see mckenzie (and honestly jordan may still be the guy that gives us our best shot to win this year.) But he does need to be more mentally strong.
3. Do we expect to see Jordan play this weekend? Yes! Not sure how much depends on game flow
4. OL still banged up? Who is back up at center? Yeah OL banged up and even though losing donte was for the better it hurts right now lol. Once mo smith is back and healthy I’ll be happy (didn’t answer the second part of the question or give specifics. Sorry)
5. With deloach out for a half, do we see more Dix or more dime? Probably more dime, Stephen dix has struggled but Im not close to that situation so that’s just a guess.
6. What are your thoughts on Lucas? Donte is a head case and has been given tons of chances. Everyone on the team was just like “yeah probably about time that happened to him”
Any more bad apples? a few but I feel like winning would fix a lot of it
7. Other injury reports? Poke is back and I think emmitt is getting close to being back!

He was clearly busy and gave me short answers. All I got

Simplifying Ira’s superb analysis; for those who want a quick read

Another great job Ira but for many of us who need a quick read in “bumper-to-bumper”
It is inarguable that the FSU team on the field needs better discipline…and discipline is a “product” derived directly from COACHING.
SO: Our coaches most likely now know and understand that:
“HAPPY FEET CANNOT BE COACHED”
cf: Spurrier, Richt, Fisher, Belechek, Kelly,
(This is WHY we have Milton and most likely ANY “term replacement” will likely be Chubba and Tate.
