0 for 4 in the #2 spot again today.

WHEN WILL FREDI LEARN? We are 75 games into the season.

Well, he learned, BJ isn't in the 2 spot tonight, he is leading off.

Well played, good sir, well played. If I wasn't on mobile, I'd post the Citizen Kane clapping clip. (I think it's Citizen Kane)

Looks like you were right, he needed to move. Homerun for BJ in the third.

Actually he's hitting .205. He is not an ideal leadoff hitter but has been doing a decent job in that spot. Atlanta does not have a true leadoff hitter on the roster.

No "true" leadoff hitter and the decision is to bat your WORSE hitter? You do realize that spot gets the most at bats?

Fredi continues to be an idiot.

But we don't have any other options….. BS!
You mean like the .200 .188 hitting Schafer? The lesser center fielder with a lower batting average, on base percentage and slugging percentage? That one? If I typed what I am thinking I'd have to ban myself.

Step 1 - get BJ out of that spot.

Fredi's decision to put Schafer there proves my point that he's an idiot and should be fired.

I'll ignore the personal attack.

My point is still valid and has been since day 1. You're just annoyed that I keep saying it. I've been right all along.
Yep. Did Fredi or BJ cuckold your missus or something? I find your hatred disturbing.

You really like using cuckold in your responses. Heard you the first time.

You find me disturbing for criticizing Fredi's ongoing stupidity?

Oh look - BJ found a way to get a hit today in between his Ks. /average is way up to .206. No worries, it's early in the season.

Let's see....if you were being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to manage a team, and the ownership said, "We want you to play this guy, regardless"....we all believe you would tell ownership to go jump in a lake. Right.

He would be batting 8th. Period.

Vizike--I owe you an apology. Don't know why I've been so swarmy with you in this thread, but it's unbecoming of me. I'm in agreement with you, actually, on BJ; maybe it's just the way you've been presenting it.

In any event, I apologize. We're all friends here.

No worries - I'm not sensitive :)

I truly am a long time Braves fan. Just annoyed at our offensive struggles and lineup decisions.

Nice comeback victory. BJ with a seven eight game hitting streak since getting moved to the leadoff spot. Hopefully he'll continue to get more comfortable there.

Unfortunately, batting leadoff doesn't make him a better hitter. Glad he's got some hits lately, but more happy the Braves are winning a bit more lately.

nice little run even if its against garbage teams. 2/3 @ houston, 4 game sweep @ philly and 3 game sweep vs the mets. The schedule is pretty soft heading into the ASG with series against the d-backs, mets and cubs. It would be nice if the nats would start losing occasionally.

BJ with two more hits last night to bring his hitting streak to ten. Better, the Braves are on an eight game winning streak and are 9-1 since the lineup shuffle.

Coincidence or not, B.J. and Braves thriving since move to leadoff

By David O'Brien

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

B.J. Upton
says it's just a coincidence that the Braves were 8-1 since manager
Fredi Gonzalez moved the speedy center fielder into the leadoff spot,
including a seven-game winning streak before Friday night's series
opener against Arizona.

"I'm not the only one doing it," he said.
"There's guys doing it up and down the lineup. Guys have been piecing
together good (at-bats) and trying to give ourselves the best possible
chance to win. I think we've done that as a whole."

Upton was
9-for-37 (.243) during a nine-game hitting streak since moving to
leadoff, with three extra-base hits, two walks, seven runs, and two
stolen bases (he would've had three steals, but was tagged after coming
off the base).

He extended the streak to 10 games with a
first-inning single Friday, then stole second base, advanced on a
sacrifice bunt and scored on Freddie Freeman's single to put the Braves
ahead 1-0.

You trying to goad me back into being annoying? It's definitely a coincidence. BJ still sucks.

0 for 4 with 3 Ks today.

Again, if BJ is make it or break it for the Bravos thern we are in for some heartache.

HE HIT .184 LAST YEAR. Even with his "hitting streak", his avg this year is a fantastic .214.

Which is 30 points higher. His average has gone up ~10-12 points since moving to the leadoff spot. He's going to be in the lineup. That can not be disputed. Fredi moving him to the top of the order has worked so far as much as you don't want to admit it.

I don't see them making any major moves. The Braves have the youngest 25 man roster in the National League. I would like to see them grow together. That and I think the asking price would be too high as far as top prospects go.

Already announced(prior to yesterday) that he will not pitch in the ASG.
