Braves 2018

Watching the second game against the Dodgers .... It has become apparent (against the better teams)that the Braves are not yet ready for prime time.

Anyone think we will make a big trade? Or they still holding tight to all prospects and going long term?

I don't see them making a big move. The results to this point have been an unexpected surprise for not only the fans but also to the Braves' front office. I can see another Venters-like move but nothing that could potentially break up the prospect train.

Freeman comes in the top of the ninth, walks the first two and then gives up a run-scoring base hit ... now down 4-1. Smh.

Well, the bad news is Sean Newcomb's no-hitter was broken up in the 9th. The good is the Bravos won and the Fillies lost.

Obviously, the Braves have no intentions on giving up any of their top prospects in a trade this year. I imagine the play since the sweep in St. Louis has a lot to do with it.

I like that Anthropolous made moves without giving up any big time prospects. This team is good enough to make the playoffs but not make any real noise. With Reid and a few more pitchers coming up could be a monster 2019-2021.

Having a debate last night with a buddy, if you have to get rid of one, do you keep Carmargo or Swanson?

At this point, I would be surprised if the Braves make the playoffs this year. There was a graphic shown on last night's broadcast stating the Braves have 27 games remaining with playoff contenders and the Phillies only 9. I don't see them winning the division and I think the wildcard comes out of the NL West and Central.
There is no doubt that this season has already exceeded expectations. No one could've foreseen where they stand now. I hope the young staff continues to mature and some bullpen help comes from somewhere.
As to your question, with Austin Riley in the system, I'd say Carmargo even though I like him a lot.

Much-needed nice come from behind win today. The Phillies ain't blinking though.

Big couple of series starting today. The Braves at the Nationals could either bury Washington or get them right back into the race. The Phillies at Arizona is interesting in that it could show the Phillies as real contenders or pretenders.

Carle walks four and gives up four runs in one relief inning.... pitching is one big reason they may not make the playoffs.

Not a good start to this important stretch this afternoon. Hopefully they get the split in the night half.

Having Fried knocked out by the line drive early didn't help. I was listening on the radio so I didn't see the play in left field where Duval caught the ball off Enciarte's glove.
That was fun to watch ...

Nice win in the second game ... Minter makes the ninth inning unnecessarily exciting.

It definitely made contact with the wall. ...But if he catches at the same time, is it still a catch?

Once it hits the wall it is equal to a ball hitting the ground. The argument I got in with another is if it ever hit the wall or not. The other person was saying the ball did not come in contact with the wall (NY replay refs screwed us again, admittedly we have not had much luck this season with replay refs) which to me it appeared it hit the edge of his glove rolled off and bounced off the wall.

Even if it never hit the wall, the end result was the same. Soto was out when he passed Turner on the base path (actually Turner raced by him returning to 1st).

Stop me if you've heard this one before... The Braves get a good outing from their starter, hand the lead to the bullpen, the pen blows it and the Braves lose. :(

That’s a new one!
