Baseball Braves 2023

Another outstanding pitching performance by Strider ... I especially liked his unassisted put-out at first on a weakly hit ground ball in the 7th. What a fantastic year for Strider!

Couple of thoughts:

Riley's defense is so good at third ... very agile, athletic

Yates had a second good outing ... encouraging to see

Lopez is very good at second ... much better range than Grissom

Fried has not been real sharp ... despite putting base runners on every inning except the first he is able to minimize the damage

Offense is so productive, just amazing to watch

Dodgers lost, too!

Olson hasn't hit a homerun in a while but he's still being productive. Two more RBIs today. He's leading MLB with 112. The next closest has 95.
He whacked a laser double off the right field wall...A little height and it would have been in the cove!

Thought the same thing.
From ESPN MLB:

Braves manager Brian Snitker ran the game with one eye toward seven upcoming games at Colorado and Los Angeles, as he explained when asked why he left McHugh in the game long enough to walk four and allow four runs.

“We've got a rough week ahead of us,” Snitker said. “We didn't really want to beat up any of those other guys chasing a win.”

Bravos playing some good ball lately. Kyle Wright starting rehab assignments is also encouraging.

At this point I don’t see how you keep McCough on the postseason roster. He hasn’t looked real sharp at all since April. He has been solid since coming over from Tampa but can’t throw strikes anymore.

Lopez seems to be a great addition, real smooth with the glove. Would imagine he gets a lot of playing time down the stretch to give guys a day off.

Fried has put up decent numbers but still seems to be shaking off some rust.

Think they clinch the division in Philly the second week of Sept.

ESPN and Caesar's Sportsbook have Betts listed as the favorite since 8/17, because of a recent hot streak. Big whoop! Acuna's been doing it all year, but what do those a-holes know!

The upcoming series this weekend could go a long way toward setting things.

The Fillies and Orioles have already lost today, so this evening presents a golden opportunity for the Braves to make some hay. Might be an uphill battle though with Darius Vines making his Major League debut at Coors Field of all places....

Are they running out of starters?
