On the first weekend of ACC play, the Florida State baseball team plays its first doubleheader of the 2025 season Saturday afternoon.

The No. 5 Seminoles (16-1) close out their weekend series vs. Boston College (7-7) with a two-game set on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.

After he was scratched last Friday due to a reported illness, FSU ace Jamie Arnold is back on the mound for Game 1 of the doubleheader. The awards contender has a 1.12 ERA and a 2-0 record through three starts this season with 24 strikeouts to two walks over 16 innings with just seven hits allowed. BC will counter with senior LHP Tyler Mudd (0-1, 6.75 ERA) on the mound in Game 1. He's allowed 11 earned runs over 14.2 innings this season with 14 strikeouts to eight walks.

In Game 2 of the day, slated for about 45 minutes after the first game concludes, FSU will throw sophomore LHP Wes Mendes (3-0, 0.89 ERA) against a TBD starter for Boston College.

I'll be here all day with updates for the full doubleheader.

Big ovation for Jamie Arnold as he's introduced as the starting pitcher before today's game. Probably a few sighs of relief too.

Noles are warming up in the field. Game 1 about to get underway.

Jamie Arnold starts his outing with a strikeout on a nasty slider in the dirt.

He's back.

BC's Kyle Wolff gets booed as he walked up to the plate after he was the villain last night.

He strikes out on four pitches and Arnold talks to him after striking him out.

Jamie Arnold Ks Jack Toomey. Struck out the side in the top of the first in order. Was quite hyped coming off the field. Intensity of the game picking up right where last night's ended.

0-0, M1

Gage Harrelson leads off the FSU first with a single to right. Extends his hitting streak to 18 games.

Alex Lodise strikes out. Chased an elevated fastball for the first out.

Max Williams dribbles one off the end of his bat to the left side. Third baseman fielded it but his throw to first pulled the first baseman off the bag. Ruled an infield single.

Two on, one out for Cal Fisher.

Myles Bailey unloads on the first pitch he sees for a three-run homer to straightaway center. His sixth bomb of the year (and third of the week) ties him with Drew Faurot for the team lead.

3-0 Noles, B1

113 mph off the bat. Holy....

Drew Faurot rips one but right at the right fielder.

3-0 Noles after one inning on Myles Bailey's bomb.

Arnold starts his second inning with his fourth straight strikeout before issuing a one-out walk.

High bouncer back to the mound gets Arnold an easy second out.

Runner on second with two outs for Beck Milner.

Arnold gets a strikeout looking to strand the runner. Five Ks through two scoreless innings for the ace.

3-0 FSU, M2

Nathan Cmeyla, starting at DH today, leads off the second with a single to left.

Jaxson West singles through the left side.

Noles have two on with no outs in the second. Seeing Tyler Mudd well with five hits off him in 1+ inning.

Harrelson lays down a bunt that dies just in fair territory in front of the catcher on the left side.

Bunt single loads the bases for Lodise and BC will make a mound visit before the AB.

Lodise lines the first pitch he sees just inside the third-base bag into the corner. All three runners come in to score, even through Harrelson (who was flying) wiped out and fell halfway down the third-base line.

6-0 Noles

Max Williams rung up on a full-count pitch. He didn't like the call and let the umpire know while walking back to the dugout.

Two down.

Cal Fisher works a walk to put runners on the corners with two outs for Myles Bailey.

Bailey strikes out looking to strand two runners.

6-0 FSU through two at Howser

BC leads off the third inning with its first hit of the game, a double off the wall in left-center by Josiah Ragsdale.

Then a four-pitch walk by Arnold, his second of the game.

Micah Posey out for a quick mound visit as BC puts two on with no outs in the third.

BC pulls off a double steal and now has two in scoring position with no outs.

Arnold gets a lineout to third and Fisher rips a throw to second to double up the runner there.

Two down, runners on the corners now.

Groundout to second gets Jamie Arnold out of a bases-loaded, no out jam with no damage done.

6-0 Noles, M3

BC makes a pitching change to begin the third inning. RHP Karl Meyer (22.50 ERA over two innings) takes over on the mound.

Drew Faurot got down 0-2 but then took a ball and lined a leadoff single into center.

Leadoff batter has singled in each of FSU's first three innings today.

West lays down a bunt and is thrown out at first but both runners move into scoring position.

DeLamielleure flies out to shallow right, not deep enough for Faurot to tag up.

Harrelson brings both runners home with a two-out single (106 off the bat) up the middle. He's 3 for 3 in three innings today.

8-0 Noles, B3

Lodise infield single deep in the shortstop hole extends the inning and brings up Max Williams with two on and two outs.

Max pops out behind home and FSU strands two in scoring position after they advanced on a wild pitch.

8-0 Noles as we head to the fourth inning.

Lodise is smooth with it, fielding a slow roller up the middle and firing to first to retire the leadoff batter in the fourth.

Wonder if this will be Arnold's final inning.
