#100pagesnatty Thread 11/08/18 #63pagesnattynumber1 #106pagesnattynumber2

This puts donors in a predicament too. I don’t want to support this current AD “administration,” and withholding my annual donation is a clear way to make my displeasure with all of this known in a tangible way...but at the same time, I’d like to believe that the money I contribute does do some good for student athletes. I suppose the best thing to do would be to reduce/eliminate the athletic donation and give more to the university proper.

I listened to Jimbo’s interview with Danny Kanell and Andy Staples on SiriusXM today and he said he will be coaching Sat despite rumors to the contrary. But he was asked “brisket or pulled pork” and answered brisket while giggling like a four year old girl. So I think he’s leaving immediately after the game. Although, he did state with some passion that “no decision has been made” and speaking as a former prosecutor I actually believe it so it would fool me if a decision has been made by him as of 1pm today.

No, FSU has not. They can't afford to make the decision. It would cost them $40 million. Jimbo, whether we like it or not has us by the balls.

I think you're confusing what "we" know and what the "administration" knows. If he's leaving, they already know that so they would, and are rumored to be, speaking to people.

Awful what he's doing. There's no excuse for any of it.

I've lost all respect for him and imagine I'm not in the minority on that.

Yes, that he could ask for loyalty and trust after going 2-5 and the worst season in 40 years, then try to renegotiate for more yet another time is beyond belief. I had respect for him prior to this year, and tried to listen to what he said when things were going bad. However, when instead of manning up, acknowledging that many things weren't working, accepting responsibility and committing to fixing problems, he just wanted loyalty and trust that it would get better. Adversity reveals character and I don't like what I have seen this year. Time to move on. TAMU, please give this man an 8 year guaranteed contract worth at least $60 million, pay his buyout to FSU, and give him complete control.

Who goes 5-6 and then has the balls to ask for new facilities, new budgets for staff, fire the president of the boosters, and fire the AD????

Makes NO sense.

This might have been his plan to purposefully be fired, that or he is seriously self-destructing.

Well...the redneck from West Virginia is holding our school hostage (while recruits drop like flies) so either the buy-out isn't so steep or he can actually get paid by FSU.

Parsing that contract language, determining which of differing interpretations of how it applies to facts that will no doubt be disputable will cause all kinds of problems. Best case scenario is they are just finalizing details and TAMU signs his contract soon and pays his buyout without argument. If the FSU contract would allow it and I were in charge, I would immediately demote him to QB coach. If TAMU bails, or there is argument over buyout, this will get very ugly.

To paraphrase our President - if I owe you $1 million, I have a problem. If I owe you $10 million, then we all have a problem.

Do you realize the irony that you are to FSU message boards what you claim TAMU is to Texas football?

No one is trolling here.

Point is if Jimbo leaves for Aggy. He will instantly become a joke because reality will hit him very early next season.

I am sure Florida State fans do not want to wish him well if he does leave after what he has put your University through.

Wait, what? Is there anyone actually arguing that if Jimbo goes to TAMU, we will owe him money??? My understanding of his current contract is that if he voluntarily leaves he will owe a buyout for himself and assistant coach contracts (I think around $3mil for him and $7 mil for ACs, but could be less now that the end of season is near). Of course, leaving voluntarily, potential breach of contracts, etc. are all up for interpretation, but if Jimbo bails and Thrasher or Miller don't demand he or TAMU pay a buyout, much less pay him a penny more than this year's pay, then President heads should roll.

I pray that we win a NC next year while he goes 7-6 at A$M

What do you think the play is here? Jimbo is going to get some of his buy out from us or he's going to go back to TAMU for a kicker for saving on the buy out that tamu would have paid. Do u not see the long con with him "not making a decision."

Yes, I see it, and I despise it. That is why the contract language is critical and he should immediately be removed to the limits allowed by contract. Did he breach? Are we able to demote him to QB coach? Can we make him the bathroom attendant at Doak for ULM? Those putting FSU in this position by approving this contract should also be held accountable. Seems to me that Sexton is the only one in this whole deal who is sitting back unscathed.

I don’t understand...what’s the deal with the contract?

My bet is that the end of the regular season is a trigger for reducing the buyouts, and he's just dragging this out an extra week to save a few bucks (on A&M's part so can put it towards his contract and assistants). He's just mailing it in and we can't push him out for reasons stated throughout this thread.

The contract governs everything. I haven't read it, only seen what was reported in the press. The press simplifies things and says things like he is guaranteed $40mil if fired or he owes $10mil if he quits. The actual contract is more complicated and many provisions open to interpretation. Jimbo likely will try to be paid arguing he is owed money because he is being forced out. FSU likely will try to get paid because Jimbo "quit". There could be a provision that he is paid more or his buyout is lower if he finishes the season. All of this is speculation and even with the actual contract, it will be open to interpretation, which results in either a negotiated settlement or litigation.

Lawyers and agents will get paid. It might be ugly for everyone else.

Welp. Charter flight from Tallahassee to College Station scheduled for the wee hours of the morning. Source: the twitters.

P.S. It returns Saturday morning

Edit: just a prop plane. Probly just an LR poster flying out to pick up a brisket.

I'm no expert in the field, but in my opinion, if Jimbo goes to TAMU without having to pay anything or very little to FSU, or even worse, if FSU cuts him a check, then his agent and lawyers took the FSU prez, Booster prez, the AD and FSU's lawyers to school.

Anyone want to slip the Captain some cash to make sure it is a one way flight?

Btw, I still remember Mark Richt checking out for his new job when he was supposed to coach one more game, which basically cost us a National Championship. Obviously we aren't even close to a NC, but this could be the first losing season in 40 years. I don't want anyone claiming loyalty to just go through the motions to get paid.

I don’t think we plan on firing him. He will have to quit.

Gonolz, I know 3 players from that team very well. 1 bench warmer, 1 who usually played about 20-25 snaps a game and one fulltime starter. All 3 will tell you MR already having taking the UGA job had nothing to do with the loss. They all said it was primarily one player who got to play and live by a different set of rules was the one who lead the attitudes going south. They all have told me about the coaches doing everything in the world to get the players attention but nothing seem to work.

There are two. A smaller twin turboprop plane owned by a prominent aTm booster that first stopped off in Orlando before going to Tally.

But the one Jimbo and family will be flying on is a twin jet Gulfstream G650 owned by a company run by an aTm Board of Regents member.

And Sexton can have Taggart remain "undecided" on Oregon to put a little more pressure on us to just get the Fisher situation sorted.

Our priorities are so out of whack.

Finally saw the video of the guy getting booted from the radio show after asking Fisher about loyalty.
The article I read said an FSU representative was the one that pushed the guy out of the room. Hope that FSU rep gets fired.

I can’t imagine there being a way FSU would end up paying anything in the way of a buyout to him. He’s leaving of his own accord, to take a much higher paying job. My guess is he is staying to complete the season, because if he left prior to Saturday his pay for this season would be decreased because they’d prorate it. Maybe he also gets a bonus for the team being bowl eligible, assuming the players win Saturday despite his distraction.
As to him, or atm paying us, I thought it was essentially tied to $ owed to the assistants - basically a mechanism for covering the cost of dumping old staff so the new coach can bring in his own guys. I am not certain that this is the case, but it makes sense to me.

That's my understanding. It covers the cost of the assistant buyouts.

Add me to list of guys disillusioned by Jimbo. Only a week ago I was hoping he could stay. FSU really needs to figure out how to not let him on the sidelines. It will be ugly. There is no reason for him to stay except to further damage our football programs already realing recruiting season and hamstring our coaching search. Which makes you think it is out of sheer spite....for an institution that gave him everything he has right now.

Hell, I was hoping he’d stay as recently as a couple days ago. I still think he has the potential to be a great head coach, if he learns how to better utilize his strengths and hire people who are strong in the areas he’s not.
But his handling of this situation has me very bitter towards him. I feel much like I did when Martin St Louis had his falling out in Tampa. He was wrong, and let his ego result in a crash & burn that forever stained his legacy in a place in which he was loved -much like Jimbo has done now. I will never fully forgive either of them, though I will always appreciate what they did for the teams.

Jimbo has turned heel.

And not a cool heel like Ric Flair either.
