#100pagesnatty Thread 11/08/18 #63pagesnattynumber1 #106pagesnattynumber2

I stand corrected. He did want to hire a few new coaches last year and the boosters told him no, they wouldn't pay what it takes.

per the podcast, this all to blame on the boosters...they are old cronies that have been running the boosters for 40 years and have the attitude that we don't need all the things that Fisher is requesting.

Jason also says that Brewster is leaving regardless to work for UF.
I hope he's wrong about Brewster solely due to his value in recruiting.

I hope he's wrong about Brewster solely due to his value in recruiting.

no kidding....and for what it's worth...I like Izzo. He seems to be a reliable TE who can do all the things needed from a TE.

Did you listen to the podcast?

  • Jimbo Fisher — $5.7 million.
  • Dan Mullen - $6.0 million.
  • Rich Rodriguez — $6.0 million.
  • Urban Meyer — $6.4 million.
  • Jim Harbaugh — $7.0 million.
  • Dabo Swinney — $8.5 million.
  • Nick Saban — $11.1 million.

I think Dabo's $8.5m includes a one time $1.5m signing bonus. ---> LINK

Dabo: $6.75m average ---> LINK
He did spearheaded a rise that’s made Clemson one of the best programs in the country. Jimbo took over a national brand.

Saban's seems skewed as well:
Alabama is giving coach Nick Saban plenty of incentive to stick around — and to sign a contract extension in the first place. University trustees on Tuesday approved a three-year extension through the 2024 season that could pay Saban at least $65 million over the next eight years ($8.15m/yr) and again make him college football’s highest-paid coach. Saban will make $11.125 million this year, counting a one time $4 million signing bonus and a $400,000 completion bonus. (--> makes his salary 6.75m this year?)

Wow, how did Rodriguez get up there? Talk about paying for mediocrity.
One of these things is not like the other...

I listened and if this guy is accurate FSU has way bigger problems than losing JF. Very scary info. Thanks Dan for the link.

Alright now I feel obligated to listen. I kind of doubt anyone who claims “sources” now. The only person I heard who was even remotely right about the Gator job was the Ole Ball Coach himself when he would come on the Rick and Show Pony radio show.

First, FSU assistants as a group are 6th highest in the NCAA, and only 200k away from being 4th. So this crap about assistant salaries is all a smoke screen by jimbo and his side...it's not fake news, it's a flat out lie.

Second, since the boosters are the fund raising are for all FSU athletics, does he think working directly with the AD is some how going to take the boosters out of the equation? If he does, he's just stupid. This is another lie by Jimbo and those who support him.

The problem is Jimbo has been given everything he asked for and like the petulant child, he doesn't like being question.

He does a podcast on every game. He always has the best analysis and seems to have great inside sources.

Staples is a former walk on wide receiver for FSU. He does have some connections inside the program.

He’s 47-50 as a head coach.
0-1 in bowls
7-5 at Oregon

What’s so great about that?

Maybe Sucks was to far....He’s a mediocre coach at best.

So you definitely didn't do your homework regarding his record. He's turned around 2 dumpster fires (Western Kentucky and USF) completely (go check his track record year-to-year at those schools and what was happening prior to his arrival) and is already in the process of turning around Oregon (they were 6-1 before their starting QB got hurt for the year) and he's got Oregon by far their best recruiting class ever.

That "put the kids in the hospital" story turned out to be him toughening up a bunch of Oregon kids that were soft (by multiple accounts, including NFL people).

Combine all of that with what FSU already has on the roster plus him being from Florida, and yeah, Taggart is the perfect replacement, IMHO.

That's why I was kind of joking with "The Opposite" episode picture of George Costanza above. Just listed to the podcast mentioned after work and I think that must be where Dan got that opinion on WT (which I also disagree with). Could be wrong though and he could have held that opinion earlier. Anyway, doesn't matter. All of this will be over soon.

Yeah, but he likes Mullen and doesn't get all twitterpated at the mention of Taggart so he can't be all that connected.

Great podcast!

Cameron must listen to him because he parroted a bunch of that on the show today..rumors..sources.....

Not true...he made the podcast today and I posted my thoughts on WT yesterday. He just happens to agree with me, and he’s right with his assessment.

Look WT doesn’t suck. But finding a guy who can go into programs that are winless and turn them around isn’t the type of guy we need, it’s the type of guy Tennessee needs.

We need a trained assasin when comes to developing QBs (common denominator with great QBs and National Championships) and a guy who can run a solid offense. Next we need a guy who can recruit and etc...we have the talent right now, we have the recruits all around us, we just need to do a better job of developing talent and winning. That is what got us the good recruiting. Recruiting will remain to be great if we win (ala Bama), if we lose, we lose to UF and UM all day long in the recruiting front, I don’t care how good of a recruiter you are.

WT just isn’t the guy I think we need right now imo.

Twitter says Jimbo wanted no more money for himself but wanted a $60mil commitment from FSU to build a football only facility matching what uf is spending on one now. He didn't get it so is leaving.

If so our “booster” leadership are morons. Whether or not Jimbo is our coach we NEED equivalent facilities to keep up with Clemson and Florida. If we don’t, we become Miami with a %*%*er recruiting base.

12 losses in 3 seasons doesnt buy bargaining strength. See you Jimbo! Good luck playing an SEC schedule with inferior talent. Dabo is kicking his tail in every facet of coaching & headed to 3rd straight CFP. FSU needs a new leader who doesn't wine constantly.

Better get used to those losses with idiots in charge who don’t understand the importance of maintaining at least equivalency with our main rivals when it comes to infrastructure and recruiting.

He's not bargaining for himself but for the program. Enjoy falling further behind the Bama's, Clemsons and uf's of the college football world.

Wonder if there is a use case that shows their better facilities have helped Clemson become who they are today...because what Clemson has done in 4 years is absolutely incredible imo.

Fisher can certainly be an overbearing ass, and it's probably time for him to move on, but he's not the only problematic person in this melodrama. If Fisher leaves, replacing him won't be the only important decision Thrasher and crew need to make. And they may need to address the internal issues before a really quality coach will sign on.

So wait now we haven't gotten the players because of facilities?! Check out the recruiting rankings. Jimbo has overplayed his hand, bye. Should we continue working toward better facilities? Absolutely. Should our coach try to hold us hostage to demand things his way and only his way? Hell no, and certainly not when the best win of your season is a 7 point win over Wake Forest.

Lifetime contracts and huge leverage deals like the $40 million buyout are not healthy for a program. This will ultimately be a good thing that we start over with a fresh staff. Could it be a bad hire and not be an auto reload to greatness- of course but they way things are trending with Jimbo... this song and dance will never ever end.

Sounds like their are potential issues with Booster leadership, but Jimbo sounds like a petulant child. They are committed to giving him what he wants, just not tomorrow. Jimbo Fisher has badly overplayed his hand this time. Florida State is instantly the best job on the market: SEC resources competing against ACC competition. Good luck playing LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Miss State (Pruitt) every year and Clemson in 18 & 19 at A&M. If money won Championships, Texas would win every year.

Just did a little research on who is out there.

Willie doesn’t look that bad after reviewing the field.

I like James Franklin too. Has taken crap programs like Vanderbilt to winning seasons, and has proven to win at Penn State his last two years.

Look at their recruiting classes. Along with Bama. uf has broken ground on theirs.

We have out recruited Clemson by a wide margin for a decade. Bama has out recruited us, even before they had the facilities. Saban's good.....

FWIW, booster member said that the facility was apart of a plan; but they have several projects and will not devote all resources to football like Alabama and others have. They were looking at ground breaking in 3-5 years (depending market returns, etc) and Jimbo wanted ground breaking next year. Again, FWIW...

Yeah...im wondering if there is a usecase that says something like:

Stand alone football facilities give the players more time to spend with one another, that translate to better rapport and culture amongst the team, which then translate to better leadership and accountability on the field, which innevatiably means more Ws in the win column, and more wins more dollars that will come in for FSU athletics.

Something like that.

We can talk all we want about our job being the best in the country, and we certainly are better looking than places like Tennessee, but any quality coach is now going to have questions now about how things work within our football program. How many asses is he going to have to kiss to get what he needs to succeed? I think Thrasher has his work cut out for him.

I'm betting there isn't and I'm sure it doesn't hurt, but we have this. If it ain't good enough for recruits, we don't need ya. It's good enough for Cam, it's good enough for me.

Who hires and fires the president of the boosters?

Very good question. I’m curious as well and I would definitely be on the “Fire Andy Miller” train if his pigheadedness on facilities leads us to embarrassingly lose a coach to a lesser school. I’ll buy the first plane banner myself.

Heck, I don’t know how he survived the million dollar embezzlement from the Boosters by his friend and the alleged shady dealing associated with CollegeTown. Someone needs to leave town and it’s not Jimbo.
