The fact remains though that there are only 4 active coaches that have won even 1 national championship. That's out of over 100 on the FBS level. So the odds of finding a fifth are not any better than keeping one of those who already has one.

Huh? Out of that group the odds/outcome of a second national title peak is zero.

"Sources" are saying she is trying to work out custody agreement on TX move with her ex. Guess they have kids.

Could you be a little more specific please? What sources is this on twitter, another site, etc. Good grief, these unsubstantiated rumors are ridiculous, whether they indicate Fisher is staying or going. I'd rather here nothing than someone putting out some half baked snippet.

Willie Taggart????

NOOOOOOOOOOO....he sucks!

I’ve heard the opposite on loyalty from Fisher. I’ve heard he wanted to make coaching changes last season, but was told no. My speculation on that, if true, is that some assistants have very loyal boosters.
This doesn’t make much sense.

Jeff Cameron throwing out 50 rumors, but saying he doesn't know anything, so that he can later comeback and say he said "x" was going to happen. It's text book Cameron......worse than clickbait. Feels like he's trying to be Fishers PR guy and get a cut from Sexton. Maybe just trying to endear himself to Fisher.

Unless somehow Chris Petersen is open to coming here, Taggart is far and away the best option that's reasonable out there. Why would you say he sucks?

He’s 47-50 as a head coach.
0-1 in bowls
7-5 at Oregon

What’s so great about that?

Maybe Sucks was to far....He’s a mediocre coach at best.

And he put three kids in the hospital for over working them doing military type drills this year at Oregon.

Would you want your kid playing for coach who puts his kids in the hospital and has a losing record as a coach?

Or would you want a coach who over archived at a school like Miss State for 10 years and developed Tim Teeballs and Day Prescott; or a coach who in his first year has his team in the ACC championship game, only 1 loss on the season, in the hunt for the playoffs, wearing gold chains and having fun, and gives bibles out.

Yeah...hmmmmmm

Jeff isn’t where I first heard it.

To your point about Mullen, he had one winning conference record in his time at Miss St. One. They played four cupcakes every year. went 3-5 in conference and went to a low tier bowl game. You consider that over achieving?

Yeah...for Miss State and being in the SEC, that’s not bad.

He had a winning record over a 10 year period in the SEC with freaking crappy Miss State.

Everything I’m reading makes it seem like our facilities are total crap. Last time I checked, they re did the north side of Doak for our football facilities. They built an indoor practice facility. I get that we now need this “stand alone football facility” but geez, these writers act like we have the worst facilities in college football which just isn’t the case. All I’m reading as comparison in every article is Clemson’s facility that they opened this year and Florida’s planned facility that is breaking ground soon. So are we only behind them in this regard? A lot of whining and groaning about this stand alone facility when it seems like it will get done anyway.

But he only had a winning record because of the four cupcakes every year. His in conference record was 34-41.
That's playing in the SEC West though.

He no doubt correctly concluded that's like going undefeated in the SEC East over the same duration.

It wasn't that long ago that the SEC East was the stronger division. Even being in the West, they still get to play Ole Miss, aTm and Arkansas every year.
SEC East was always uf and a bunch of trash. UGA has always been a fraud, this year included. No other real contenders in that division, never has been.

Ole Miss and aTm have been as good or better than uf since Meyer left too. No argument can be made that the West isn't and hasn't been significantly better than the East. No contest.

Mullen was smart. He improved his SEC win-loss % overnight.

At the end of the day only JF knows what he is doing and unless he is having very quiet meetings with the Admin it doesn't appear he will be discussing this situation. I get that this is a business but I still expect more from JF; he could easily say " Yes TX AM has shown interest and my agent has talked to them. My immediate plans are to prepare FSU for our next game and if I were to leave it has nothing to do with FSU as there are personal issues outside of football that always effect decisions"
This constant double speak and what appears to be double talk are tiresome. Honesty is always the best way to handle things, he has nothing to fear since even if he was talking to uf about their job FSU isn't going to fire him. My only hope is that FSU has a short list of quality guys to replace him and that if we end of replacing JF we do it fast enough to not have it effect recruiting. While we are all FSU fans and think FSU is the place to be, the reality is if the job opened up FSU is the best job out there right now. There is no reason FSU isn't at least in the hunt next year.
As far as expectations only unrealistic fans think we should win a title every year. What we should expect is a quality product, player improvement, not losing to lesser teams at least once every year etc. Sure um, CU and a few others will beat us now and then; but losing to teams or barely beating teams that have significantly less talent is not acceptable. Injuries happen and sometimes you get bad breaks, but the majority of the issues most are unhappy with have been around for a while and only hidden by shear talent.

Quite the witch hunt over on the TC. In a matter of 24 hrs, the majority have turned on Jimbo and now the booster leadership. It will be interesting to see how everyone with pitchforks will react if this is just Sexton playing games again and Jimbo stays. Get your popcorn folks.

Yeah. I'm avoiding it unless I'm addressing a reported post. What I find most amusing are those who would switch jobs in a heartbeat for a $.50 an hour raise are calling Jimbo disloyal for taking $2.5mil more.

Can't say I blame them. I don't give money to FSU; but if I did I would get tired of every year playing the please stay JF game. Is FSU the richest place with the best facilities no; but we do a ton with what we have and there is no reason we can't compete for titles like we have for a long time. It also doesn't help that we are going through this with a chance to have a losing season and miss a bowl game. I could live with a garbage season now and then it happens; what eats at me is how FSU is still going to pay him, isn't going to fire him and when the product has been this bad all year JF is looking at other jobs. Got it's a business; but business goes both ways and so does class.

Very good point. I'd also point out that Jimbo is a hillbilly form West Virginia with aspirations to open a beef jerky company when he's done coaching, b/c he's that fond of meat sticks. (per Wikipedia...I'd actually never heard that before).

$7.5 mil/year to just about anyone for just about any reason would be next to impossible to turn down. To a guy like that, it could very well be impossible to turn it down (and there's nothing wrong with that).

The "writers" are the issue here? Who are these writers? Honest question. If you are going to Jimbo's quotes then that is not on the "writers"?

It's more like $1.75m less Sexton's cut, so closer to $1.25m pretax. If he wants go to there for that, I say don't let the door hit him on the ass on his way out. I don't think people begrudge Jimbo for looking at someone who's chasing him, but there is definite disdain for the circus that he and his agent engage in EVERY year. It's worse in a year when his NFL laden roster got pounded by BC and struggled to compete with Duke, Wake, NC State and Syracuse. Just my $0.02.

Sexton once said of agents: "I don't want to be anything like an agent...The last thing I want to be is a stereotype of the slicked-back hair, leather coat." Yet Sexton has developed a notorious reputation in front offices and athletic departments everywhere.

Sexton gets his cut from his current salary too.

Unless I'm looking at this the wrong way...

$500,000 as a % of $1,750,000 is 28.5%.

Why on earth do you think Sexton's cut of the raise would be that big? Don't agents typically get somewhere around 5-10% max? I would think he's looking at $175,000 max, as % of the cut...still a huge number, obviously...but not $500,000.

But even assuming your numbers are correct...An extra $1.25 mil is still certainly worth considering and very well could be worth leaving for.

I thought it was higher but it looks like you may be correct, closer to 5-15%. I remembered a higher percentage from a previous conversation. The size of the deal my affect the percentage though.

...or maybe that extra $2.5 mil/yr allows him to start his own beef jerky company. Remember what the wise owl Lane Kiffin said when opining on the economics of a football coach.

"I figured it out. I really don't make any money. I pay around 52% in taxes. Layla gets 34.5% in the divorce, and [agent Jimmy Sexton] gets 3%. I make [about] 9% and I'm living in Tuscaloosa."

Exactly. Nothing wrong with keeping options open and quietly and quickly exploring opportunities, but this is too much. He could shut it all down with a quick statement but he won't. FSU needs to have a little self-respect and call his bluff.

Even if he stays, he's burned bridges. He better go 13-1 or 12-2 next and win the ACC or the pitchforks will be out. He thinks it's hot this year?
