Baseball Braves 2023

And now we have this:
Celebrate Atlanta Braves GIF by MLB

The Orioles lost game 1 tonight to open a massive four-game series against Tampa Bay. Ideally I'd like to see the Rays take three out of four, so so far so good....

Which is the team you'd rather face in the WS, if we get that far? Baltimore or TB? Remember, TB had a much better record than the Braves for the first 1/4 of the season before they finally tapered off. And both teams have been hot in the last 1/4 as well. Me, I'd prefer TB, so Braves fans could get tickets easier for the games there.

Plus, Shane McClanahan is on the shelf for the rest of the season.

And, TB manager Kevin Cash is a Nole.

From Mark Bradley, AJC:

Not going to lie: It troubles me that the Braves' ERA is 14th-best among 30 clubs. Yielding 36 runs – yow! – to the Marlins skewed that a bit, but it's worth noting that Games 1 and 3 were started by Bryce Elder and Charlie Morton. Also worth noting: Sunday's best Braves pitcher was Nicky Lopez, who isn't a pitcher.

We've mentioned this a time or two, but here it is again: The doings of September don't necessarily mean much re: October. But this bullpen has slipped to 12th in both ERA and FanGraphs WAR, and bullpens matter in postseason. I have faith in Max Fried, Spencer Strider and Morton. I'm not sure there are three relievers of whom I can say the same.

Ahhh, I remember Mark Bradley--Mr. "I went to Kentucky and that's the only important sports team I care about."

Alright. Now it's time to end the celebration and pull their heads out of the asses.
The losing streak is troubling because you get into bad habits and baseball is much about getting into a rhythm and creating momentum. You can't just flip a switch and turn it back on.

Perhaps Baltimore now being within two games for MLB's best record will light a fire under their butts
