Baseball Braves 2023

Braves better keep winning. The mutts keep pulling last inning wins out of their butts. (Rhyme intended.)

The Braves may need to trade for a starter if Fried and Wright are out until July or after the all star break. And will they be effective when they do come back? Trading deadline at the end of July? (Soroka is all over the place in Gwinnett; sure hope he can be a stabilizer). Maybe Harris can get a hit by then. Not sure if is funk is due to any prior injuries (back and knee). But he's well below the Mendoza line; sinking down into the 160's. And Minter needs to get a grip, now. He's much better than that. I fear the Mets and Phillies will start to cook soon and the Braves don't need to be left in their dust. Its a long season my friends. And I dread a potential June Swoon based on a very thin starting group. Where would they be without Elder who couldn't even make the team in the Spring? He reminds me of Rick Mahler; another semi portly dude who wasn't overpowering, but beat you with finesse and location. And where is Buzz Capra when you need him? I miss Skip and The Professor.

Not very comfortable of late that Morton can hold a lead ... some innings he looks so dominating ... and other innings become a mystery.

Braves are making Zach Wheeler look like a Hall of Famer today.
My first game in years that I got to go to the park was tonight. We had a lot of fun but damn the cold bats was frustrating. There did not seem like a lot of wind but the balls were not flying out and it sounded like Murphy crushed it and it barely went out as best I could tell.

I spent an absurd amount for 4 tickets on 2nd deck, drinks, dinner at yard house and more beers. Will need a year or two to pay off the credit card bill. 🤣 I don't know how people afford to go to multiple games a season.

Due to their huge payrolls and the number of star players on their rosters, it's easy to focus on the Mets and Phillies and ignore Miami. As a Florida resident, I get to watch all of their games, and I have to say that these Marlins are no joke. It all begins with their stellar starting pitching.

And Soler. You're right. Dude was MVP of the World Series 2 years ago; surely they could've found a way to pay the man.

Spencer Strider has been awesome as a starter...but could you imagine just how great he'd be as a closer??

Smoltz won 200 games before he went to the pen. Let's give Spencer a chance to catch him first.
Not suggesting it should happen anytime soon, but the Braves have a track record of successfully transferring starters with closer stuff with the aforementioned Smoltz and Bedrock before that.

Yates is on his last year of a two year contract. I admire him for coming back; but he's just not the same. Iggy will be fine as the closer. Minter needs help with his cranium aversion disorder. Jiminez has disappointed to date. Lee will be fine when he gets back. Where would they be without Elder who has the lowest ERA in the league? I hope he and Strider make the all star team. Elder doesn't get enough run support; but he's dealing. Gotta make a trade for an established starter by the deadline. Don't know how effective Fried and Wright will be when they do get back. I'd move Harris to bat 2nd to get more fastballs behind Acuna and drop Olson's 228 average to 5th or 6th. Harris' fuse needs to be lit now. He needs to take the mindset that he was just brought up from Miss. Push the re-set button. Olson has many too many K's and low on base percentage for your second batter. A nice swing, but it has many loops/holes.

Agree with everything you said except Harris batting 2nd, he’s the worst hitter on the team currently.

I think they go out and get two arms at the deadline, one starter and some bullpen help.

Cant believe we got Eddie Rosario for Pablo Sandoval

I'd be putting Harris to 2nd to kickstart him; like I said, push the reset button. At least batting ninth, he "leads off" before Acuna. Harris has got to get going.... Its now in his head. .168.... I would let Ozuna run back from Arizona.

What a game to watch, and a fun game to listen to as well with Chipper, Glav, Smoltzy and Frenchy in the booth. I don't who said it, but one of those guys said early on this game is looking like a 13-11 type score.

Following that dramatic comeback win which punctuated a glorious sweep against the hated mutts, Atlanta needs to act like a great team and take care of business by dispatching an inferior squad in the Nats this weekend. (No let downs like the Bravos had against the lowly A's recently.)

Tonight should be interesting... #1 pitching prospect, 20 year-old A.J. Smith-Shawver, is making his first major league start. We'll see what the kid's got.

Had a friend back in Atlanta text me Strider gave up his 1st 6 runs and said the AJC recently ran a story on him and how valuable he was to the team, and he hasn't been squat since.

I jokingly replied that he was only giving the Mets a good lead to blow until we rally for the win again.

Think I'll see about changing my handle to SeminoleNostradamus.

He looked good the couple of innings he came in for the other day.

And he got the win. Braves are looking like the last 2 seasons...an occasional slow lapse that has us gnashing our teeth and wailing lamentations, and then BOOM! A seven game win streak.

This seems to be the Snitker way--the Braves rarely act like they don't think they can overcome any lead.
