Baseball Braves 2023

The Braves had opportunities to score a lot more than 5 runs against their bullpen during the game. Iglesias wasn't sharp, but that's going to happen from time to time.

Miami is a good story, makes me laugh because it makes Mattingly look like a A hole, unsure if they can sustain it all year. They’ve been crazy good in 1 run games.

Dropping Olson to 5th is rounding out the lineup with better balance. He's been productive with 51 RBI, but just hitting .230 and leading the majors in strikeouts. Too many good fastballs after Acuna being missed and those fastballs are now getting pounded by Albies and Harris. The deepest and best line up in baseball. Its a miracle they are doing this without Fried and Wright. Bullpen is improving. Heller is a heller a find. Allard soon to replace Dodd as a sp?
All Stars: Acuna, Albies, Murphy and Arcia. Pitchers: Strider and Elder. Brrrraves Baseball is on the Air! Hello, Everybody, We are live from Hotlanta!

Atlanta has to keep winning... The Marlins ain't losing!

I doubt the Mets are going to be our problem; we need to hope Philly and Miami start tanking soon.
Miami will fade, but the Mets are where the Phillies were last year. Far too early to count either team out. How about those Giants passing the Dodgers today? Tampa Bay vs. Atlanta in a Southeast I-75 World Series?

Lack of fire power as they wilt in the dog days. Marmol has got to be on the hot seat in St. Lou. I love the fact that the Mets are showing you can't buy a pennant. Alonso is a fricking lizard..... :) Good for them. I bet he secretly regrets popping off in the dugout. Typical gata mouth coming back to roost.

Strider is screwing around with his slider and curve ball too much when he has a 98 mph heater; speeding up the opponents bats. Most damage off him comes off his off speed pitches. The Nolan and J.R. Richard Express! Order Up!

That could have been Iggy's worst outing of his career. He'll get it back.

I think he'd make a great closer one day.

Great week. Team could be scary good when/if Elder, Fried and Wright all come back and round into form. Think Smith-Shaver slides to the pen if that happens. FWIW I think Fried comes back and Wright doesn’t unless in a limited capacity.

Iggy had a big case of the yips, will happen in a long season. Would still try and find a solid 7th-8th inning guy at the deadline.

If Rosario played only NL west teams he would be a 1st ballot HOF.

Big series with the Phillies this week, team that scares me the most in the East.

Money Mike with another perfect day at the plate going 5-5! Are you kidding me? His BA is skyrocketing!

Well, tonight's game against Philly has been postponed until a doubleheader scheduled in September. Tomorrow's game is scheduled for the afternoon, and it might be able to be squeezed in according to the forecast. If not, the Braves have pulled off a one-game sweep.

5-1 Braves WIN!!!! 2 game sweep
I was listening on the radio (something kids don't understand or appreciate these days) and they said that Schwarber's misplay of Riley's hit was changed to an error but the box score on ESPN shows it as a hit. Which was it? If it was an error, there were no earned runs in the 10th inning.

I was watching on MLBN... The Phillies announcers were confused about it.

Before explaining how Maggie Strider helped Spencer Strider, we’ll let the Braves pitcher provide some background on his wife.

“This is a woman who didn’t know how many strikes were in a strikeout a few years ago,” Strider said. “When she says something about baseball, I listen.”

Strider has talked about battling some mechanical issues throughout this season. But Maggie’s message had nothing to do with balance, release point or stride. Having known her husband since their days together at Christian Academy of Knoxville, she understood he could occasionally be affected by information overload.

“I value input, sometimes too much,” the Braves hurler said. “I like to feel like I have everything at my disposal, and I can learn from everything that's around me. But, you can get to the paralysis by analysis very quickly.”

So, when Strider became the latest elite pitcher to hit an inevitable pothole during the first half of this month, Maggie provided her valuable advice.

“Her message was, 'Don't listen to everybody that tells you something,'” Strider said. “Coming from her, that means a lot. She usually knows what she's talking about.”

Through his first 12 starts, Strider posted a 2.97 ERA and a 2.59 FIP, which indicated he was pitching better than his ERA might suggest. Then he allowed eight runs over four innings to the Mets on June 8 and three home runs over five innings against the Tigers on June 14.

After Strider exited that outing in Detroit, television cameras showed Braves manager Brian Snitker making sure his young pitcher knew days like these were unavoidable, even for the greatest of pitchers.

“My message to anybody is, ‘You are really good at what you do and everybody is going to struggle because this game isn’t easy,'” Snitker said. “There's nobody insulated from rough times in this business when you play for six months in a row.”

Well, three months into Strider’s first full season as a big leaguer, he appears to be just fine. He halted his brief skid by limiting the Phillies to one run over six innings on Tuesday night. He leads the Majors with a 14.46 K/9 rate and he ranks third in the Majors with a 2.89 xFIP. This latter stat projects he’ll be more efficient than he’s been while posting a 3.93 ERA through his first 15 starts.

“You’re going to have bad outings and bad stretches,” Strider said. “I think it’s how you bounce back and learn from them is what matters
